The 2016 edition of HAK4KIDZ Belgium was a blast!

This year we hosted the second edition of Hak4Kidz BE on Sunday October 23rd in the Monasterium PoortAckere in Gent.

Hak4kidz focusses on kids between the ages of 7 and 15. We do NOT teach kids to hack! We teach them the hacker mindset. What is the hacker mindset?

The hacker mindset teaches kids to look at problems like it's a fun puzzle waiting to be solved. We teach them the importance of failing and then trying again. We teach them to share their knowledge so they can focus on solving new problems instead of resolving already solved problems. We teach them to never stop learning and to always push their knowledge boundaries. Finally we teach them to never just accept something to be true but to verify what they've learned.

Why did we start Hak4Kidz Belgium?

We started Hak4Kidz Belgium to teach kids and to get them excited about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and to make them more aware on Internet Security. It's important for kids and for their parents to be aware of what safety features to be aware of.

Like we used to teach our kids about not to take candy from a stranger we now also need to teach them about not taking to strangers online or taking their virtual candy (be careful about what you click or download).

What can you expect?

Activities with a story

This year we've created a story for the activities that happen during Hak4Kidz. The story binds all the activities together into a cohesive whole. We leave it up to the kids to follow the activities according to the storyline or to explore on their own. Curious? Klik the button below to read the story.
